Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare muffin tin with liners or grease well.
Toss chopped cherries with 1 tablespoon flour and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter, eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, and almond extract (if using).
Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Gently fold in cherries.
Use an ice cream scoop to divide batter evenly into muffin cups. Add crumb topping if using.
Bake for 18–22 minutes or until muffins are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool muffins in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
