Ingredients

For the Chicken Gyros Marinade

  • 2 pounds chicken breast or thighs Cut into thin strips
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt Full-fat preferred
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic Minced
  • 2 lemons, juiced About ¼ cup
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • salt and black pepper To taste

For the Tzatziki Sauce

  • 2 cups Greek yogurt
  • 1 cucumber Grated and squeezed dry
  • 3 cloves garlic Minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill Chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt and pepper To taste

For Assembly

  • 6–8 pieces pita bread Warmed
  • 2 tomatoes Diced
  • 1 red onion Thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup feta cheese Optional
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley For garnish

Instructions

  • Mix yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and spices to make marinade.
  • Coat chicken in marinade and refrigerate for 2–8 hours.
  • Grate cucumber, squeeze dry, and mix with yogurt, dill, garlic, and lemon juice for tzatziki.
  • Heat grill pan and cook chicken strips until golden and cooked through.
  • Warm pita bread and prepare vegetables.
  • Assemble gyros with tzatziki, lettuce, chicken, tomato, onion, and feta.
  • Serve hot and enjoy authentic Greek flavors at home.
