Ingredients

  • 4 whole plain bagels or everything bagels for extra flavor
  • 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce homemade or store-bought
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese freshly grated preferred
  • 0.5 cup mini pepperoni slices optional
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning adds flavor
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder for aroma
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil for brushing
  • 1 handful fresh basil leaves optional, for garnish
  • Optional toppings bell peppers, mushrooms, black olives, sausage, or Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Slice bagels in half and place cut-side up on baking sheet.
  • Brush with olive oil and toast for 5 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Spread marinara sauce evenly over each toasted half.
  • Sprinkle garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
  • Add mozzarella and toppings of choice.
  • Return to oven and bake 10–12 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Optional: Broil 1–2 minutes for extra crispiness.
  • Cool for 2–3 minutes, garnish with basil, and serve warm.
