Ingredients

For the Cookies

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour blend
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 egg large
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest from about 2 medium oranges
  • 2 tablespoon orange juice fresh
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips optional but recommended
  • 2–3 drops orange food coloring optional for color

For the Glaze (Optional)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoon orange juice fresh
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 drop orange food coloring optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Cream butter, cream cheese, and both sugars until fluffy.
  • Add egg, vanilla, orange zest, and juice. Mix until just combined.
  • Add food coloring if using.
  • Mix dry ingredients into wet until just combined.
  • Fold in white chocolate chips if using.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  • Scoop dough onto baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges set and centers are slightly soft.
  • Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to rack.
  • Optional: Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cookies.
