Ingredients

Base Dough

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Rocky Road Mix-ins

  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ cups mini marshmallows lightly floured
  • 1 cup walnuts or almonds chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment. Whisk flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
  • Cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Gently fold in marshmallows last. Chill dough balls for 15 minutes.
  • Scoop dough onto baking sheets. Bake 9–11 minutes until edges set but centers soft. Cool 5 minutes before transferring to racks.
